Institutional
The National University of Misiones, located in the province of
Misiones, is an institution of public rights, academic and institutionally
autonomous and economic and financially autharquic. It adopts a region like
organization within the province, with a decentralized administration
conception.
It was founded in 1973, to give impetus to the integration
and interelationship within governmental and non governmental instittutions of
the province and the region, national and international institutions which share
its aims and objectives. It is also related to a marked idieological, political
and religious plurality. The University with its six (6) faculties and two (2)
schools, stands out as a community in search of institutional quality and
excellency, on the basis of professional training and deveploment of its faculty
members.
The UNaM is an institution established on the basis of
preservation, promotion and diffusion of the universal culture, with an emphasis
on national and regional levels, together with the organization, instrumentation
and evaluation of the teaching-learning process. It articulates with other
sectors of the education system, to apply scientific knowledge to solve social
development problems in the province, in the region, and in the whole
country.
Today, after 34 years of service, the UNaM is an education
institution of excellence which guarantees free education in every academic unit
distributed in three regions: Oberá, Eldorado and Posadas with its 45 graduate
and undergraduate courses and 28 post graduate courses. The main activities of
the UNaM are teaching, research and extension, and social action. Due to this,
the institution aims to form and train students of all levels, to get the
adequacy of knowledge advancement, according to individual demands as well as
national and regional standards. Besides, it promotes a commitment to society
through efficient and effective provision of services within its area of
competence to ensure the principles of equity and equality of
opportunities.
