The University of Notre Dame Australia (UNDA) is one of the rising stars of
Australian universities. Founded through an Act of the Parliament of Western
Australia in December 1989, it now has over 7000 students enrolled on its three
campuses in Fremantle, Sydney and Broome. The University s founding partner was
the University of Notre Dame in the United States (NDUS), one of the world s
great Catholic universities and the benchmark for UNDA. It has provided UNDA
with inspiration; counsel; ideas and models; study abroad students and
faculty; and the presence of its leaders on its Boards and governing
councils.
Notre Dame Australia is an Australian university which has
embraced both the modern Australian university tradition and the ancient and
esteemed traditions of Catholic universities both in Europe and North America.
It has sought to be a university which specialises in excellence of
undergraduate education. Its focus is the education and training of young people
for entry to the major professions: medicine, law, teaching, nursing, accounting
and finance, physiotherapy, counselling, health sciences and the priesthood.

The University is especially noteworthy for its
role as a leader in the great traditional professional disciplines of Health and
Education, so long associated with the mission of the Church in Australia. It
has also assumed a special role in the education of, and service to, the
indigenous people of northern Australia.
Notre Dame is a medium size,
private university which receives public funding in a number of areas. A
significant number of students have places in the health and education fields
funded by the Australian Government. It is committed to ensuring that, as far as
possible, students receive a personalised, high quality education in a caring
and friendly learning environment. About 10 per cent of its student body is
international.
The University aims to produce industry ready
graduates who are much in demand from Australian employers.
The
University s three campuses, in Fremantle, Sydney and Broome are strikingly
beautiful and very convenient. They provide an ideal setting for a first-class
undergraduate university experience. |
