Georgian is Connected Over the past several months, I have held many
discussions with stakeholder groups at the College and across the community. I
am always eager to discover what they view as Georgian s strengths. The
answers to that question have been multitudinous which is not surprising for an
institution that is now 42 years old with a total full-time enrolment of 10,000
students and an alumni roll that has grown to more than 50,000 graduates. In
distilling all the factors that have been integral to our growth and success,
there is one recurring theme that emerges above all others and can be summarized
in one, simple word connected.
Connected in Community
Partnerships Connected in the nurturing and supportive way we promote student
success. Connected in the partnerships we have built with industry,
governments, community organizations, and corporate donors that allow Georgian
to keep pace with change and maintain the highest academic standards. Connected
in how we work with thousands of employers across Canada that laid the
groundwork for Georgian to become the largest co-operative education college in
the country. The extent to which the community values Georgian socially for the
many charitable activities that our students and staff are engaged in,
frequently in aid of those less fortunate.
Strategic Renewal The
College is currently engaged in a strategic renewal process that will
address our current and long term strategic priorities. Georgian s current
Mission Statement, To provide our students with the knowledge, skills and
work-related experience required for successful careers and lifelong learning,
is at the heart of our commitment and dedication to a growing legion of students
in diploma, degree, continuing education, and apprenticeship
studies.
Our Legacy Albert Einstein once said, Try not to become
a man of success but rather to become a man of value. The keys to Georgian s
values and achievements in the past will continue to be the foundation for our
success in the future. Above all else, we will remain true to our legacy of
staying connected with our students, the employers, and the communities that we
are privileged to serve. |
