Ã& land University of Applied Sciences Ã& land University of Applied Sciences offers schooling in a wide variety of fields, with degree programmes in economics, maritime studies, technology, nursing & health care, and hospitality. Courses are generally taught in Swedish. Ã& land University of Applied Sciences offers its students a first-class learning experience; as only around one hundred new students are admitted to the different degree programmes annually, the class sizes remain small, enabling swift and easy communication between teachers and students. In order to provide students with international experiences and contacts, the university cooperates with various foreign universities. Students are readily assisted in organizing studies and/or training abroad. Students at Ã& land University of Applied Sciences are also welcome to take courses at the school⬠"!s open university that offers academic courses, further education, as well as lectures and seminars. About the Ã& land University of Applied Sciences Ã& land University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1997 by the Ã& land Provincial Government as a co-operative network for vocational higher education certified with a polytechnic diploma. On 1 January 2003 Ã& land University of Applied Sciences became permanent, when it merged with Ã& land Open University and changed its Swedish name into "Högskolan pÃ¥ Ã& land". The university offers seven degree programmes with a total of 400 students. In addition to that, the Ã& land Open University offers around 100 academic courses, lectures and seminars annually. Close cooperation and interaction with working life and society is essential.
