Theatre Academy Helsinki
Founded in 1979 , Theatre Academy Helsinki
provides the highest education in theatre and dance in Finland, training actors
(in Finnish and Swedish), professionals in music theatre, directors,
dramaturges, lighting and sound designers, professionals in dance
(choreographers and dancers), performance artists, dance and theatre
pedagogues.
The results of the studies are performed at the stages of the
Academy s training theatre. The Academy also works within research and
development in the fields of theatre, dance and performance.

university of performing arts. It plays an active and influential role in
society and is a bold and determined reformer in its fields. Performing arts
include dance and drama, light, sound and performing art and their various
current applications, and new forms of performance. "
Theatre Academy
Helsinki offers training in dance, drama, light and sound art, performance and
pedagogy. It offers programmes in acting in Finnish and Swedish. The Academy
also offers licentiate and doctoral programmes. It is located in the Sörnäinen
district of Helsinki.

society. The performing arts and practising and enjoying them are part of all
cultures and societies. They have strong intrinsic value. They reflect,
reinforce and bring to question society s structures, goals and values. They
offer aesthetic, emotional and intellectual experiences. Every performance,
whatever its goals, is a contribution to a debate that pushes society towards
greater openness, understanding and humanity.
