Grigol Robakidze University was established in 1992. It is a practical type
higher educational institution, which is orientated to the interests of
employers. Graduates of the University have opportunity to meet with the demands
of the labor market, as most of the academic programs are of multidisciplinary
character. Besides, wide scientific-research work is carried out at the
University. The teaching bases of the University match to modern requirements.
Some of them still have no analogue in Georgia. In 2006 the Ministry of Science
and Education of Georgia conducted the accreditation process in the higher
educational institutions. In 2005 the university was involved in the Bologna
process. Grigol Robakidze University passed the state accreditation very
successfully. In spite of the fact that Grigol Robakidze University is a private
university it works in coordination with the Ministry of Science and Education
within the scope of legislation of Georgia. The monitoring of the activities of
the University is accomplished by the Accreditation Centre of Education of
Georgia. Besides, the university has accomplished and is accomplisheing a lot of
international projects.This University is a self-financing university. The
University runs Bachelor⬠"!s, Master⬠"!s and

Humanities and Social Sciences In 2001-2003 Tempus TACIS project of the European
Union was accomplishment at Grigol Robakidze University which intended
reconstructing the teaching and learning system according to the European
standard. Within the scope of Tempus TACIS Project the Academic Quality
Assurance Centre was established at Grigol Robakidze University. The project was
accomplished with the partnership of Batumi State University (Georgia),
Nottingham Trent University (UK) and Lund University (Sweden). The head of the
project was the professor of Nottingham Trent University Mr. Colin Love. Grigol
Robakidze University was the leading one. As a result of monitoring the project
got A. The Rector of Grigol Robakidze University is chosen as a consultant and
expert of Oxford Round Table. Besides, Grigol Robakidze University has close
partnership relations with higher educational institutions of Europe. It

2006 the Ministry of Science and Education of Georgia conducted the

the fact that Grigol Robakidze University is a private university it works in

present 43 students of Grigol Robakidze University have full grant from the
Ministry of Education and Sciences and 185 students have partial grant. VI.
Conferences held at Grigol Robakidze University and the Academic Scientific Life
of the University Grigol Robakidze University holds annual Studentsâ¬
"! Scientific Conference each spring. Different students of each Faculty
participate in this Conference. Successful students are awarded certificates in
three nominations: the best research, original research and the best
presentation. This fact greatly motivates the students. Besides, each Faculty
holds different thematic conferences, presentations and workshops. (In case of

June 30, 2008 at Grigol Robakidze University was held the Interuniversity
International Conference Neo-Platonism and Modernity dedicated to Tengiz
Iremadze⬠"!s book ⬠SThinking Conceptions in
Neo-Platonism⬠(Konzeptionen des Denkens im Neuplatonismus, B. R.
Grüner Publishing Co., Amsterdam / Philadelphia, 2004 In the
conference participated: On November 15, 2008 at Grigol Robakidze University was
held the international seminar-training on the topic: ⬠SBusiness
Ethics and Social - Economic Consequences of Corruption and Property Rights
Violation in Transition Economies⬠. The seminar was organized by
the coordinators of the higher education supporting programme of the Open
Society Institute and the Faculty of Business and Management of Grigol Robakidze
University.The seminar-training was held within the scope of the programme
⬠SSocial-Economic Consequences of Corruption, Property Rights
Violation and Tax Evasion in the NIS: Interdisciplinary Approach in Research and
Teaching⬠. The representative of Ukraine Mr. Sergei Iakubovski
(Project Director, Deputy Dean Faculty of Economics, Head of the Department of
International Economic Relation, Odessa, Mechnikov National University)
underlined the high level of organizing the seminar-training and the
participants⬠"! interest. After the end of the event, the guest from
Ukraine expressed his desire for further cooperation in similar actual problems.
On May 1-2, 2009 the International Scientific Conference ⬠SWar and
Peace Journalism⬠was held at the University. The organization
committee chose this topic on the purpose that this is a world-wide problem and
very urgent for the whole society. Professors and practical journalists from
Georgia and foreign countries participated in the conference. Participants were
awarded the certificates for the best research work. The mentioned conference
was attended by the guests from different countries. Grigol Robakidze University
Press published the abstracts and the whole articles will be published in the
proceedings in the nearest future. The mentioned Conference was highlighted by

the abstracts). In September 11-18, 2009 International Seminar in Conflict
Simulation in Caucasus was held at the University. The coordinators of the
seminar were Berlin Free University and Grigol Robakidze University. On November
13-14, 2009 the International Scientific Conference - ⬠SThe
Problems of Caucasus in the Past, Present and Future⬠was held in
the University. On 27-29, 2009 the University held Students International
Festival of Publicistic TV Programmes and Documentaries "Centaur⬠.
TV documentaries shot by Georgian as well as foreign students were presented on
the Festival. Besides, Grigol Robakidze University was and is involved in
several international and national projects. In 2001-2003 Tempus TACIS project
of the European Union was accomplishment at Grigol Robakidze University which

accomplished at the University. In 2007-2008 the University accomplished the
project ⬠SThe Federalist Papers and the Problems of Civil Education
in Georgia⬠which was financed by the Small Grants Programme of
the USA Embassy. At Grigol Robakidze University functions the
Employers⬠"! Council which works out recommendations for taking into
consideration employers⬠"! requirements in academic programmes. The
Programme Committee determines the content, requirements and outcomes of the
teaching courses. According to the mission of the University, additional
programmes function at Grigol Robakidze University for those who are interested
in them aw well as for students. These additional programmes are: Courses for
students: The Art of Debates (in English Language), IT Technologies, TV Creative
Art. Preparation courses: Georgian Language and Literature, Natural Sciences
(Physics, Chemistry, Biology), General Skills, Mathematics, English Language,
History of Georgia and Social Sciences. Courses for Professional Development and
Training: Political Analysis, Geopolitics, Criminalistics, TV Creative Art,
Project Management. Training courses in Financial Markets. The Centre for school
teachers⬠"! professional development and retraining functions at
Grigol Robakidze University. The Centre serves Tbilisi secondary schools. The
experts approved by the Quality Assurance Committee make expert estimation of
the project of the worked out programme. After this, the Faculty Council
considers the project and sends it to the Academic Council for approval.
Corresponding protocols exist. There exist programme standards including the
structure and principles approved on the Academic Council, including the
programme approving procedure. The programme contains separate courses. The
teaching process of each course is conducted by a course leader and a leading
professor. As for the practical part of the course, it is conducted by an
assistant professor or a teacher. Each course has a syllabus which determines
its goals, content and outcomes. The programme takes into consideration
description of the learning-teaching and assessment methods as well as the
opportunity of continuing education of the employment sphere including
international programmes. Each programme/curriculum has its specification which
is available to wide circles of society, among them employers, by Internet and
the University Service Centre. On the University website there is a special link

of the University is led by the Scientific Research Management Centre. The Fund
of Scientific Researches established by the University finances research

once per six months Scientific conferences for professors as well as for
students are often held at the University. Professors of the University
systematically find and get grants for researches. The University, on its turn,
also allocates funds to finance researches. Quite many projects were
accomplished and are being accomplished at Grigol Robakidze University. Grigol
Robakidze University has close contacts with other organizations, e.g. tourism
departments, public organizations, banks. Together with these organizations
Grigol Robakidze University holds joint activities. For instance, students of
the Faculty of Business and Management annually pass practice in the Railway
Department of Georgia. The administration of the Department employs outstanding
students. Three students of Grigol Robakidze University have already been
employed by the Railway Department. Grigol Robakidze University has signed
memorandum of cooperation with different foreign higher educational
institutions. The major strategy of international relations is joint and
integrated programmes. For quality management, at the University is established
the Centre of Academic Standards and Quality Assurance. Students are also
involved in the process of quality management. They are elected in the Faculty
Council and are involved in the commissions which work out the normative
documents of quality management. Grigol Robakidze University is recognized not
by Georgian, but also by Euro-Atlantic educational sphere. This is proved by
those international relations which the University has with different foreign
higher educational institutions abroad, such as joint programmes awarding two
academic degrees, students⬠"! academic and research business trips,
the fact the foreign professors are included in the Dissertation Board, foreign
